This acrylic painting was painted intuitively, with a focus on mark-making. The image of the house and tree appeared without any planning but to me, expresses the sense of isolation that can come with living “out in the sticks”, an expression that was often used to describe the location I grew up in, a long bus ride away from my school friends and quite a walk even from the nearest village.
